A Letter to our Incoming Kindergarten Families

Hello and welcome incoming Kindergarten Families! My name is Heather Moro and I am the principal here at Slade Elementary School.  I am excited to welcome you to Slade and to provide some information to help your family plan for the upcoming school year.

In this communication, I want to share with you some "Big Rocks" about this upcoming year. I like the phrase "Big Rocks" because, when filling a container, the big rocks have to go in first before the smaller, more detailed rocks can be added to build a solid foundation.  We are diligently working on many of the finer details about re-opening the school this year which will be communicated to all of our families beginning the week of August 10th.

Slade has the highest growth scores in the state!

The annual Wyoming Accountability in Education Act (WAEA) report designates Slade as an Exceeding Expectations school! This is our fourth time in the past five years that Slade has earned the honor of Exceeding Expectations! This year is made especially sweet because Slade had among the most improved scores of any school in the state! This includes our 4th graders demonstrating the highest mean growth percentile in the state with a score of 78.7. Congratulations to the students, teachers, and families of Slade Elementary for their dedication to high expectations and continuous improvement! To see the complete report, click  here: Slade WAEA Report

Slade Guidelines for Success

Bullying Parent Handout

Slade Elementary School is a school-wide program that receives extra funding through Title I federal funds. With these funds we have been able to hire highly qualified reading and math intervention teachers to work with small groups of students. Having this highly qualified staff allows us to reduce student to teacher ratios and give all students the attention they require.

Being a school-wide Title I school has also allowed us to purchase extra learning materials to enhance our students’ education. Providing this early intervention is an important key to success for children. At Slade, extra assistance is provided as early as possible in a student’s career in order to support a strong educational start.

AmazonSmile fundraising for Slade PTA

The Slade PTA wants to remind families about a super simple way to raise funds for our school! has a fundraising site called AmazonSmile which donates a small percentage of every purchase to your chosen organization.  Every time you buy an eligible item through AmazonSmile, the Slade PTA receives a tiny percentage of the sale.  AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know.  Same products, same prices, same service!!

The link AmazonSmile for Slade Elementary PTA will take you directly to in support of our organization. Or, you can go to, designate Slade Elementary School PTA as your charitable organization, and you are ready to shop.

Only purchases made through the AmazonSmile site result in a donation so you can bookmark the AmazonSmile home page to make it easier to return and shop. If you have an Amazon account, everything is the same on the AmazonSmile site: your cart, wish lists, registries, and settings. Tell your friends and relatives about it too! Anyone can choose to support Slade Elementary PTA through AmazonSmile.
