March 30th, 2020 Updates

Happy Monday Slade Families! I hope you are fining a rhythm and routine in your days and are experiencing joy in the simple things. As Dr. Yennie stated in his phone call message on Sunday, schools will now be closed through April 17th, 2020 and we will move to virtual learning beginning April 6th. The school district also sent out a survey asking about technology needs for families. Please complete this survey so we can understand how to best serve you during this time.

This morning we sent out a Slade Communications with a letter from me and a link to community resources. The  links are below for your convenience.  Please reach out and let us know how we can support you!

Stay-At-Home Care Package by Big Life Journal

Dear Slade Families:

I hope this message finds you well. I have been thinking of you during this interesting time. As many of you know, the school board held a meeting last Wednesday night to confirm the closure of the all ACSD#1 schools until April 3rd, with students returning to school on April 6th.  Please know that this is the information we have at this time. Each day brings new challenges and changes to our plan for keeping all families safe.

The school district and Slade teachers are working on how to provide at home learning opportunities for all of our students K-5. Please plan to receive more information from me and your child's teacher over the next week as we gain a better picture of what to expect over the coming weeks. This is uncharted territory for all teachers, and our number one goal is to support Slade families and students the best we can. If you need specific help, please reach out. Slade teachers and I will also be reaching out to find ways to connect with students and families during this time away from school.

For now, enjoy this downtime as a family, rest, and be well.

Respectfully, Heather Moro, Principal

Mrs. Moro wins Wyoming 2020 National Distinguished Principal Award

We are SUPER excited at Slade Elementary!!  It was recently announced that Mrs. Moro had been named Wyoming’s 2020 National Distinguished Principal by the Wyoming Association of Elementary and Middle School Principals.  She and winners from other states will have the chance to visit Washington, D.C., in October to participate in activities and celebrations to honor the principals.  She is an AMAZING principal and Slade is SO proud of her.

Slade has the highest growth scores in the state!

The annual Wyoming Accountability in Education Act (WAEA) report designates Slade as an Exceeding Expectations school! This is our fourth time in the past five years that Slade has earned the honor of Exceeding Expectations! This year is made especially sweet because Slade had among the most improved scores of any school in the state! This includes our 4th graders demonstrating the highest mean growth percentile in the state with a score of 78.7. Congratulations to the students, teachers, and families of Slade Elementary for their dedication to high expectations and continuous improvement! To see the complete report, click  here: Slade WAEA Report

Slade Guidelines for Success

Bullying Parent Handout

Slade Elementary School is a school-wide program that receives extra funding through Title I federal funds. With these funds we have been able to hire highly qualified reading and math intervention teachers to work with small groups of students. Having this highly qualified staff allows us to reduce student to teacher ratios and give all students the attention they require.

Being a school-wide Title I school has also allowed us to purchase extra learning materials to enhance our students’ education. Providing this early intervention is an important key to success for children. At Slade, extra assistance is provided as early as possible in a student’s career in order to support a strong educational start.

Box Tops for Education

We collect Box Tops for Education here at Slade so keep clipping those items! Box Tops are collected by each classroom teacher and used to help our PTA raise money.

AmazonSmile fundraising for Slade PTA

The Slade PTA wants to remind families about a super simple way to raise funds for our school! has a fundraising site called AmazonSmile which donates a small percentage of every purchase to your chosen organization.  Every time you buy an eligible item through AmazonSmile, the Slade PTA receives a tiny percentage of the sale.  AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know.  Same products, same prices, same service!!

The link AmazonSmile for Slade Elementary PTA will take you directly to in support of our organization. Or, you can go to, designate Slade Elementary School PTA as your charitable organization, and you are ready to shop.

Only purchases made through the AmazonSmile site result in a donation so you can bookmark the AmazonSmile home page to make it easier to return and shop. If you have an Amazon account, everything is the same on the AmazonSmile site: your cart, wish lists, registries, and settings. Tell your friends and relatives about it too! Anyone can choose to support Slade Elementary PTA through AmazonSmile.
