LARAMIE, Wyo. (Dec 5 2025) – On Friday, December 5th, Garrid Halsey, Laramie Middle School STEM Teacher, was recognized for receiving the Milken Educator Award.
30 early to mid-career educators from around the US are chosen each school year for their impressive achievements, and more significantly, for the promise of what they will accomplish in the future. Recipients are chosen for their exceptional instructional talent and student impact, exemplary contributions beyond the classroom, and strong potential for future leadership within the profession. Candidates are sourced through a confidential selection process, reviewed by a blue-ribbon panel appointed by the state and approved by the Milken Family Foundation.
Mr. Halsey is the sole Wyoming recipient in 2025-26. He has been an educator at ACSD#1 for six years, playing a vital role in the Laramie Middle School community. Staff and students speak highly of him; he consistently demonstrates outstanding dedication, innovative teaching, and a deep commitment to student growth and school excellence, qualities that also earned him the title of District Teacher of the Year for the 2024–2025 school year.
The State Superintendent, District Administration, Laramie Middle School staff and students joined in celebrating Mr. Halsey during an all-school assembly. Mr. Halsey will receive a cash prize and become part of a national network of more than 3,000 distinguished educators who shape and elevate K–12 education. He will also have access to powerful mentorship and leadership-development opportunities through the Milken Educator Awards programs, including pairing with veteran Milken Educators, participation in collaborative educator networks, and ongoing support to extend his impact into state or national educational leadership.
Congratulations to Garrid Halsey on this extraordinary and well-deserved honor.
