LARAMIE, Wyo. (December 16, 2020) – This Friday, Dec. 18, students from Albany County School District #1 will participate in “Shop With a Cop.” Officers from the Laramie Police Department, Wyoming High Patrol, Albany County Sherriff’s Office, and University of Wyoming Police Department will team up for the event.

On Friday, 25 students from the district will be picked up from their schools by an officer in a patrol car, and driven to the Walmart located at 4308 E. Grand Ave. There, the students will shop with an officer and have $100 to spend as they wish. Students will shop from approximately 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

The goal of the event is to provide the children with both a happy holiday season and a positive interaction with the local law enforcement agencies. Any additional funds raised for this event will be used to provide school lunches for children in need throughout Albany County who may not qualify for federal programs.

Money for this event was donated by Walmart Supercenter, local businesses, members of the community and the Laramie Police Department Foundation.
