Interim Assistant Superintendent Steve Slyman
Steve Slyman began as Interim Assistant Superintendent of Albany County School District on August 14, 2025. Steve and his family have called Laramie home for the last 27 years, serving as an asset in many different roles.
His initial job in ACSD #1 was as a special education teacher at Linford Elementary School, where he served for 9 years while also taking on the role of District Behavior Specialist in the last years of his time there.
After completing the Educational Leadership Program at UW, he became the principal at Indian Paintbrush Elementary School. Steve claims that there is no better work in the world than being an elementary school principal.
Five years later, he was asked to assume the position of Director of Individualized Instructional Programs for the district. He has filled this role, with a title change along the way to Chief Student Advocacy Officer, for the past 13 years before transitioning into his role as Interim Assistant Superintendent!
