ACSD#1 Facilities Update
This page serves as a central hub for all facility updates across the district, providing our community with transparent, up-to-date information on ongoing and upcoming projects. From renovations to new construction, you’ll find details on how we are enhancing our schools to better support student learning and safety.
Major Maintenance Process:
Major building and facility repair and replacement" and "major maintenance" mean the repair, replacement or upgrade of complete or major portions of any component, equipment or system of a property at irregular intervals that is required to continue the use of the property at its designed capacity for its designed intended use and is typically accomplished by contractors due to the personnel demand to accomplish the work in a timely manner, the level of sophistication of the work or the need for warranted work.
Spreadsheet is used to track upcoming projects that have been identified and for life cycle items that have been identified through the School Construction Departments Facility Condition Assessment for review for consideration of replacement.
In June the Chief Operations Officer and Maintenance Manager tours each facility with the building administrator to review the facilities assessment, discuss maintenance issues and requirements that may qualify for Major Maintenance. These are then prioritized per school.
Requests from buildings are then prioritized by the Chief Operations Officer, Maintenance Manager and ACSD1 Civil Engineer to rack and stack the projects for the district.
Scheduled projects are then submitted int the annual budget based on using 75% of the funds allocated by the legislature for Albany County School District 1.
Approximately 25% of funds are set aside for emergencies. These funds can be rolled over to the following year for consideration for projects if not used.
All scheduled Major Maintenance and as emergencies arise throughout the year are submitted IAW Policy 2004 (Purchase and Supply) for approval.

Central Office – Project Update
1721 Park Ave. Laramie WY
Transition Briefing
Work continues to progress on the transition of the former Beitel Elementary into the new ACSD#1 Central Office, with multiple phases moving forward concurrently. Design efforts are underway for a new parking lot to be constructed in the area of the former playground, which will improve site access, traffic flow, and staff/visitor parking capacity. In addition, design is progressing on a new boardroom and training space, which will be developed within the former gymnasium to support district meetings, professional development, and large-group functions.
Interior improvements are actively in progress. Hallways throughout the building have been painted, significantly improving the overall appearance of the facility. Carpet removal is currently underway, along with the abatement of existing chalkboards to prepare classrooms and office spaces for modernization. Abatement activities are anticipated to be completed around May 30. Upon completion, crews will continue with interior upgrades, including repainting rooms and installing new carpet to create a functional, professional work environment for staff.
Overall, the project is progressing well and remains on track. Following completion of abatement and interior finishes, the transition to the new central office is anticipated to occur between October 1 and December 30, 2026, allowing for a phased and organized move-in that supports continuity of district operations.
