ACCESS Expectations
Expectations for Students while attending ACCESS:
Be actively on task and completing academic work
Be respectful of staff, peers, self, and ACCESS/BBBS space
Participate in conversations that promote positive behavior change
Keep conversations appropriate to allow yourself and others to stay focused
Follow all directions given by ACCESS and BBBS staff
Respect and adhere to the personal space of others
Remain physically safe at all times (to include self, others, and property)
To ensure that we are aligning with the Mission, Vision, and Expectations of ACCESS , please be aware that students should be actively engaged in completing school/program assigned and approved work. This DOES NOT include students sitting and playing games on a computer, watching videos, or engaging in other non-school/program activities for the duration of their time at ACCESS.
Things your students should bring to ACCESS:
Schoolwork in a folder/binder
Snacks (optional)
Lunch (optional, program will provide school lunches as requested)
Items/materials that are NOT allowed in the ACCESS program:
Items prohibited by ACSD#1
Water bottle (water is provided at ACCESS)
Phones
Backpacks
Personal/School laptop (laptops are provided by ACCESS)
Any other personal items
*Please note that if any of these items are brought to ACCESS, students will turn them in with staff upon arrival. The items will be locked up until they are returned to student prior to leaving for the day.
Misconduct Procedures
Step 1. If a student is not meeting ACCESS expectations, staff will first provide reminders and reteach expectations as needed.
Step 2. If the behavior continues despite these supports, a parent or guardian will be contacted. At that time, you may be invited to speak with your child to help support re‑engagement and reinforce expectations.
Step 3. If a student continues to struggle with meeting ACCESS expectations, a parent or guardian will be contacted and asked to pick up the student for the remainder of the day. A list of any incomplete academic work will be provided so it may be completed at home prior to the student’s return to ACCESS or school the following day.
Step 4. Students who are asked to leave due to disruptive behavior are welcomed back the next day. If a student is asked to leave for two consecutive days due to an inability to meet expectations within the learning environment, it may be determined that the student is not yet ready to appropriately engage in ACCESS.
Families will receive daily communication regarding their child’s participation and progress while attending ACCESS. Parents or guardians will also be notified of any remaining assignments that need to be completed.
