The Albany County School District #1 Board of Education recognizes the right of parents or their designee’s to teach their own children at home in accordance with the Wyoming Home Schooling Law W.S. § 21-4-101 and 21-4-102.

Please return the completed Letter of Intent to Home School to the Office of Special Services, 509 S. 9th Street, Laramie, WY 82070.

Memo to Parents

TO: Home Schooling Parents

The following information is provided for your consideration in your application to provide Home School:

  • Letter of Intent to Provide Home School

  • Albany County School District #1 Board of Education regarding Home Schooling

  • Administrative procedures for implementing Home School programs

Note that the name of a “Sequentially Progressive Curriculum” must be provided in order to approve a Home-School Educational Program. 

You may also choose to have your child(ren) participate in Federally funded programs.  Programs such as Title I, Special Education (IDEA), and Carl D. Perkins Vocational Program are limited to students who are eligible for those services. Contact Kay Mobley, Grant Coordinator at 721-4460, or email Kay Mobley, for additional information regarding Title I eligibility and services or the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Program.  Steve Slyman, Chief Student Advocacy Officer, 721-4460, or email Steve Slyman, can aid in evaluating for suspected disabilities and/or the provision of services to eligible students.  Additionally, parents of home-schooled students are eligible to participate in staff development opportunities provided by the district.  While it is too early to disseminate what the district’s staff development offerings will be at this time, please note that you can contact Brittany Welch, or Ariane Eicke, Professional Development Coordinators, at 721-4460, or email Brittany Welch or Ariane Eicke, to find out what is scheduled.

If you wish to renew your intent to homeschool please fill out the form below. Completed forms can be turned in electronically to Darlene Toner, email Darlene Toner, or at the Special Services building located on 509 S. 9th St. Laramie, WY 82070.

Families whose students are currently enrolled in an ACSD#1 neighborhood school and wish to homeschool their student must complete the form below and return it to your current neighborhood school.
