invite for Freshmen Night

We are celebrating Kindness Week at LMS.  Today during lunch students had the opportunity to write kind notes to a classmate or teacher.  On Wednesday the Hope Squad will be serving lemonade and on Friday we are wearing red for Valentine’s Day and Heart Health Awareness.  Another great way to spread kindness is by doing things from the 28 days of Kindness Challenge.  In a world where you can be anything, let’s focus on being kind.

Scheduling  for the 2026-2027 school year gets underway this week.  Rising 7th and 8th graders will make their schedule requests for next year in S4S on Wednesday. Please discuss the courses they are interested in with them.  You can find more information about the classes we offer in our curriculum guide.  There is an informational meeting for rising freshmen and their families tonight at 6:00 pm in the LHS theater.  All current 8th graders and their families are strongly encouraged to attend.  Rising freshmen will also be filling out their schedule request forms in S4S on Wednesday as well.

Family Fitness Night is Thursday from 5:30-7:00 in the LMS cafeteria and gym.  There will be a variety of healthy activities to participate in, healthy snacks, and a large number of organizations sharing information about healthy activities in our community.  All LMS students and their families are encouraged to attend Family Fitness Night.

Our school has been selected to participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) test on Monday, March 2,2026. NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects. NAEP is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education. Randomly selected 8th grade students will take a mathematics or reading test. In addition to subject-area questions, students voluntarily complete NAEP survey questions. The assessment takes about 120 minutes for most students, which includes transition time, directions, and completion of survey questions. The information collected is used for statistical purposes only. Your child’s grades will not be affected. You can learn more about NAEP testing by reading this letter.  If you do not wish for your student to participate in NAEP testing, please notify Kevin O’Dea in writing by Monday, February 23rd.
