school's out on chalkboard

The last week of this school season is upon us. Thank you for partnering with us this year.  It’s been an honor to work with your student. We will miss our 8th graders as they make the jump to LHS and all of the great things that lie ahead for them.  They are ready and will do amazing. We are excited to welcome back our current 6th and 7th graders next year along with a great group of incoming 6th graders and new to our building students.  Thank you for helping us make this year a success.  We sought “Progress not Perfection.”  We made great gains academically, athletically, artistically, and socially this year.  Our students are rock stars and our families and the best.  Thank you again for sharing your students with us, for your input, and for your support.

Our schedule this week is all, all, all, early release.  Students will be dismissed at 11:30 on Thursday and must be off campus by 11:45.  Our offices will be closed from 12:00-2:00 for end of the year professional development.  The student leadership team has planned a spirit week for our final week of school.  The themes are:

  • Monday: Dynamic Duos

  • Tuesday: Dress like your favorite celebrity

  • Wednesday: Kindergarten day

  • Thursday: Vacation day

We will begin checking in 6th grade Chromebooks and chargers on Monday.  If you have a 7th or 8th grade student who did not check in their Chromebook or charger last week, please have them do so as soon as possible.  Please remind your students to bring their devices in clean and clear of personal stickers.  ACSD1 stickers should not be removed. Students will be charged for damaged or unreturned chargers and devices.

The last session of Scout Learning Lab and the last late bus are on Tuesday.  Students have until 3:05 on Wednesday to turn in work for credit.  Students are responsible for all activities and assignments even if they are absent this week.  Teachers will turn final grades in on Thursday and report cards will be available in PowerSchool on Friday.

Students will be cleaning out their lockers at the end of the day on Wednesday. All lockers should be completely emptied out at this time.  We are having a field day on Thursday.  Other than wearing appropriate clothing for outside activities students, and perhaps a water bottle, students do not need anything else on Thursday.  Items left in lockers after the end of the year will be disposed of.

It’s a bittersweet time of the year.  We are proud of all of the hard work our students and staff have put in over the last 181 days and we are excited to see our students taking the next step on their educational journey, but we are a bit sad to see the year end and we’ll miss our students over the summer.  Let’s enjoy this last bit and make it a great week!
