Kindergarten Registration Information

Fall 2019 Kindergarten registration for all Albany County schools is ongoing! While families can register students any time after that date, we encourage registrations as early as possible. This allows our schools to plan well for the our new group of students. If you have friends or family that will be enrolling for fall 2019, please let them know that it helps everyone to register early.

Students who will be 5 years old on or before September 15th, 2019 are eligible for Kindergarten. Wyoming law does not allow for younger students. All you need to begin the registration process is a birth certificate and a current record of immunization. Immunizations must be up to date 30 days after the first day of school. Even if yours is incomplete now, we have several months to complete any needed shots.

We ask that families begin the registration process at their neighborhood school. If you wish to request a boundary exception to another location, that can be done at your neighborhood school as well. Please contact us at Beitel Elementary (721-4436) with ANY questions about this process at ANY time! We're happy to get you the information that you need.

Inside or Outside Recess?

When the weather turns colder Valley View starts to think about whether recess should happen indoors or outdoors. All schools in Albany County follow the same plan: When temperatures are zero or above, recess will be outside. Anything negative will be inside. Temperatures include the wind chill. At the Double-V we use a weather station right on our rooftop to give us neighborhood-specific temperatures. This data is often different information than what popular weather apps use. Those sources will use information from the Laramie Airport several miles outside of Laramie. A link to our weather station is posted here:

Please help your student to come to school dressed for the weather! We will be outside if zero or above and inside for any negative temperatures!

Attendance Matters

Common sense tells us that kids who miss school miss opportunities to learn. Some absences are just unavoidable. But, how much is too much? New research tells us that missing an average of just two days a month makes a child much more likely to fail a subject or to not graduate from high school. This research also points out that parents often underestimate the effects of missing school. It’s in everyone’s interest that students are at school the vast majority of the time. Thank you for making attendance a priority at Valley View.
