Our Principal

Welcome to Laramie Middle School the home of Scouts!

At Laramie Middle School our mission is Scouting Success Together.” We believe that every student can learn and achieve at a high level. Our job, in concert with families, is to provide students with the structure and support they need to be successful.

As principal, I have a variety of responsibilities. I work with students, staff, and families in building a culture of respect and excellence at LMS, serve as a curricular leader, help  manage the building, work with staff to build a quality educational experience for all LMS students, and coordinate with community partners to make each student’s middle school experience the best it can be.

It is my hope that all students will actively participate in their education by joining band, choir orchestra, student government, an athletic team, or any of the other activities we offer at LMS in addition to coming to school prepared and ready to learn each and every day.

As we continue the transition from Laramie Junior High to Laramie Middle School, the essential attributes of middle school developed by the Association for Middle Level Education will guide our work.  According to the AMLE, an education for young adolescents must be:

  • Developmentally responsive-using the nature of young adolescents as the foundation on which all decisions are made
  • Challenging- recognizing that every student can learn and everyone is held to high expectations
  • Empowering-providing all students with the knowledge and skills they need to take control of their lives
  • Equitable-advocating for every student’s right to learn and providing challenging and relevant learning opportunities

Please encourage your student to be an active participant in their learning and don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. I can be reached at 721-4430 or through email at kodea@acsd1.org. Check the LMS calendar to stay up to date on the great things happening at LMS.
