Kindergarten Step Ahead Summer School Program

We would like to invite your child to participate in the Step Ahead Kindergarten Program. This program is sponsored by Albany County School District, funded through the Bridges grant and Title 1 and is free of charge to parents. Step Ahead is a Summer program for children entering Kindergarten this fall.

The objective of Step Ahead is to help your child transition smoothly into the public school setting in the fall by teaching entry level Kindergarten skills. Targeted goals for students are to identify and write the letters in their first name; count and group objects up to 15; follow 3-step directions; and increase attention to learning tasks. These skills are consistent with best practices used in our school district.

The Step Ahead/Title 1 summer program will take place at the Lab School, August  12th through August 15th (Monday-Thursday). Transportation, if necessary, will be provided by the school district to the Lab School and back home. The hours for the program are 8:00-11:30 a.m. A morning snack will be provided.

If you would like to enroll your child in Step Ahead please fill out the attached form and return it to the Lab School by May 30th.

Thompson, and Jurgen Koepke, co-chief scientist, reach out to elementary school students in Germany via a ship-to-shore broadcast. Williams and Michael Cheadle, a UW associate professor of geology and geophysics, headed educational outreach efforts aboard the vessel during a five-week research cruise that explored the Marion Rise in the Indian Ocean.
