Upcoming Events

Graduation – At this time Laramie High School has been approved to have its graduation at the University of Wyoming’s Area Auditorium on Friday May 28th at 7:00pm.  LHS will be working with UW’s staff to finalize details in the weeks to come. At this time all graduates will be allowed 4 guests to attend, and it will be live streamed (I am trying to get that streaming information for next weekI will continue to communicate information about graduation as I get it including the live streaming information.   

Project Graduation – Is at the Laramie Ice & Events Arena on May 28th from 10pm to 3am.  Doors will open at 9:30pm.  As in the past, the doors will close at roughly 10:30pm.  If a senior chooses to leave the event, they WILL NOT be allowed to return.  Face coverings will be required at this event.  We are also looking for volunteers to assist with the event.  We will be needing folks to assist with food, clean up, corn hole, obstacle course, slide, and a few other minor needs.  Please contact Patty Henry:  henryboys@pentasons.com   She will be setting up an online sign up for those able and willing here in the next few weeks.

College Signing Day (or Post High School Day) – We will be celebrating our Seniors and their future plans on Wednesday May 12th at 2:30p (please note that the date has changed). All Seniors are encouraged to wear their future college colors, military service attire, or any other clothing that represents their future plans. The University of Wyoming will be on campus during I&E at 1:30 for a Signing Days event with students who plan to attend UW next year. Students who have already been admitted to UW will get information from UW about this event.

Laramie High School Spring Academic Awards Night – Will be held Tuesday May 11th at 6pm in the LHS Theater. This night we will celebrate academic letter winners and Senior honors and scholarships.

From the LHS Counselors

There are scholarship applications still available for Seniors to complete. If your Senior is looking for more scholarships to apply for, please have them visit with their school counselor. In addition, all scholarship applications are posted on the LHS website and we post announcements regularly on our Facebook page for any new applications that we receive.

Summer Drivers Education

Summer School Opportunities

In the coming weeks I will have information about opportunities this summer to take classes to recover credit during the month of June. Our goal is to create programming opportunities that will allow all of our students the chance to start next year with the skills and credit they need to be successful.

Students of the Week

We are proud to inform Longhorn Nation of the 4 Student of the Week winners from this week!

This week in elementary our student of the week is a kindergartener in Ms. Nichol’s class. Blaze D. is our elementary student of the week. Blaze has become an outstanding reader this year. He is decoding multisyllabic words and reading his library books to his classmates in class. Blaze has become a Rockstar Reader this spring! Great job Blaze!

The junior high student is a 7th grader, Abbey N. Abbey always comes into the building with a smile on her face and a happy demeanor. She frequently visits teachers before the bell rings and wishes them to have a great day. Abbey is a hard worker that always tries her best. She has been working very hard both in the classroom and on the track. She is showing the same grit and determination in track practice and meets that we see every day in the classroom. Congratulations Abbey!

Our high school student is a 11th grader, Luke M. Luke’s teachers have noticed that recently he is more involved in classroom discussions, daily work assignments, and participation in activities. He is refining his skills as a young adult to manage time and attention to detail more and more every day. Keep up the great work Luke!

Other Information

The Rock River Prom is scheduled for May 8, 2021, 6:00pm-9:00pm at the Rock River Gym. Students wishing to bring someone from another school will need to pick up a permission form to be filled out prior to bringing someone from outside of our school population. These forms must be turned in and approved before Thursday, May 6, 2021. Ms. Anfinson. A list of names will be put together by the prom committee and will be cross-referenced upon entrance. Be sure you let the sponsors know that you will be attending.

Once students have entered the prom, they will have to adhere to our health procedures. If at any point a student leaves the building, they will not be permitted to reenter.

If you are aware of families interested in having their student(s) attend Rock River next year, please direct them to our website. We have our application open and will review applications in late May.

Laramie Middle School

Hapi-ness 5k

The 36th  annual Hapi-ness 5k will be held on Saturday, May 8th at 9:00.  Registration and sign up will begin at 8:00 am. In order to receive a race t-shirt, participants must register by April 29th.  The race is open to runners and walkers of all abilities. The Hapi-ness 5K was founded in 1987 by the LMS ninth grade class in memory of their classmate Hapi Patterson who passed away due to leukemia.  Since then numerous families have received help with their medical bills as a result of the Hapi-ness 5K.  This year’s proceeds will help families and individuals in need in our community.  Please use this link to register and watch the video below to learn more about the Hapi-ness 5K.

Incoming Sixth Graders

We are planning an in person informational meeting for rising 6th graders on May 19 from 6-7.  Right now, indoor capacity restrictions will limit us to 1 family member per student.  If that changes, we’ll allow more people in.  There will be more information to come as we get closer to the event.

Teacher Appreciation Week

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week and we’d like to celebrate the great teachers and other educators at Laramie Middle School.  Our teachers work tirelessly to meet the needs of students.  They are dedicated, professional, hard-working, and care deeply about students.  Thank you to to all LMS teachers, and to teachers across the country.  You are valued and appreciated.  If you’d like to email a teacher to express your appreciation, you can find their contact information on our website.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week

The PTA is excited to host Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week May 3rd-7th.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, food will be purchased and delivered to maintain safety standards.  Because of our amazing Read-A-Thon fundraiser, we have the funds we need to cover these costs.  If you would still like to contribute, you can donate via PayPal.  Directions for PayPal donations are on our blog.

Important Notes for the End of the School Year

Here are a few reminders as we wrap up the school year during the first week of June.

Please remind your child to check the lost and found for any missing clothing items; we do donate all items left at the end of the school year.

All medications must be picked up from the Nurse’s Office prior to Friday, June 4th.

Our last day of school is a half day on Friday, June 4th. Students are dismissed at 11:30 am. If you need to check your child out early from school, please let the office know.

All report cards will be sent home with children on Friday, June 4th. The report cards will also be accessible in PowerSchool.

Classroom supply lists will be sent home and will also be available on the Slade website

Parent Teacher Organization

We are looking for interested parents to participate in our Parent Teacher Organization. If you are interested, please send an email to springcreekelem.pto@gmail.com.

PTO is looking for parent volunteers for the following events:

  • Organize FlowerPower fundraiser items for delivery (paper orders only) in mid-May
  • We need a Bookfair Chairperson for next school year
  • Field Day Hot Dog Lunch:
    • Tuesday, June 1 (after school): pre-assemble lunch bags (2-4 parents)
    • Wednesday, June 2 (morning): setup roasters with hot dogs (2-3 parents)
    • Wednesday, June 2 (lunch): serve lunch (3-4) parents

If you can help out for any of these events, please contact the PTO at the above email address.

Our next PTO meeting has been moved to Monday, May 10 @ 6:30 pm via Zoom. Meetings will be held the second Tuesday of every month.

Talent Show

Plans have begun for our annual Spring Creek Talent Show! Our show is set for Friday May 28th at 8:30a.m. via videos sent from parents to Mrs. Main and then live streamed, (A link will be emailed out to parents and staff, and it will also be recorded for later viewing). Kindergarten through 5th grade is invited to participate. Acceptable talents could include singing, dancing, martial arts, comedy, playing an instrument etc. If singing, you need to have a back-up CD or ipod without vocals. YouTube can be used, but advertisements etc. would need to be deleted prior to sending a video. Lip syncing is not acceptable. KaraokeStar and itunes have many songs without vocals.

Talent show is always voluntary, NOT REQUIRED! There will be NO Auditions. All of the practice/rehearsal needs to take place at home. Music has to be appropriate for the school setting. All performances will be two and a half minutes or less. Your video will be viewed by Mrs. Main. If there are any issues, Mrs. Main will contact you. MP4 format is requested for ease of splicing quickly. Videos are due to Mrs. Main by Friday, May 21st.

Please have your video dubbed at two and a half minutes or know that your child will be faded out. Your child will be shown on YouTube on our school channel. If you are not ok with this they won’t be able to take part this year. Thanks, and if you have questions please call or email Mrs. Main at the school.
