Rock River

Rock River Prom

Last Saturday, May 8, we were able to have the Rock River Prom at our school gymnasium. We had 29 of our 33 high school students, most with a date in tow, attend this year’s event. It is safe to say, they ALL had a blast!

Students were dancing, laughing, and requesting songs throughout the entire dance. The DJ that we had for our prom said that it was refreshing to see young people enjoying a dance and each other the entire night. He also mentioned to me that our students were respectful and polite when they requested a song, understanding that their song may not be played right away. It was a prom he enjoyed as much as our students! Thank you Party Pros for your incredible music and compliments!

We’d like to thank all of the local businesses that donated to our students to help pay for our event. Without their support, we would not have been able to give the students this special night. Thank you:

  • Pepsi
  • Ridley’s Family Market
  • WyoTech
  • The Human Bean
  • RR PTO

Celebration

I’d like to give a special “Shout Out” to our teachers and staff that assisted in the planning, decorating, and chaperoning this year’s prom. Without this team of teachers and staff, our prom would not have been possible.

Thank you Ms. Bennett and Mr. Bock, the junior class sponsors, for working with the students and planning our prom. You put together a great team and were able to plan a spectacular event that everyone enjoyed!

Along with Ms. Bennett and Mr. Bock, several staff members came to the gym on Friday morning to help decorate.

Thank you Ms. Lewis, Ms. Wiginton, Coach Alexander, Ms. Moore, Ms. Sims, Mr. Kerker, Ms. Senske, Ms. Lydia Moore, and Ms. Winters. Ms. Wallace and Trooper McCallister came to the prom to help chaperone (and dance) along with most of those that decorated. Ms. Nichols made the “goodie bags” filled with treats for the students as well. From the students, myself, and the rest of the staff, THANK YOU!!!!

Laramie Middle School

No Scout Learning Lab on May 18

There will not be Scout Learning Lab, or a late bus, on Tuesday, 5/18.  LMS staff will be at a staff meeting after school and will not be available to work with students.  SLL will resume on Wednesday, 5/19.  All students need to go home directly after school on Tuesday.

Impact Testing

Seventh and 8th grade students will be taking the baseline portion of the Impact test between now and the end of the year. The Impact test is conducted by LHS trainers in conjunction with Premier Bone and Joint.  It helps identify early symptoms and recovery for concussions. More information about the Impact test is attached.  If you do not want your student participate, please return the opt out form to the student’s PE teacher or LMS Activities Administrative Assistant, Debbie Clay. If you have any questions regarding impact testing, please contact Mrs. Clay at 721-4430.

Water Bottle Announcement

Staying hydrated is important and we encourage students to drink water throughout the day.  However, the sport water bottles with the squirt top have become problematic.  In and effort to keep our school safe and clean, we ask that students do not bring water bottles with a squirt top to school.  Thank you for your cooperation.
