Rock River

Students of the Week

This week we celebrate 3 students for being awesome!

The first student is a 4th grader in Ms. Findley’s classroom, Porter W. Porter has worked hard all year this year. This past week he finished taking his WyTOPP assessment and his hard work paid off. Porter rocked the test and we know he is destined to do great things as a 5th grader next year. Great job Porter!

Our junior high student also did an amazing job on the WyTOPP assessment. Brandon B., an 8th grader, was challenged by his mentor, Ms. Vallier, to do his best on the test. The results were awesome! Brandon took the time to focus and knocked it out of the park! Great job Brandon! We knew you could do it!

Our high school student of the week is a sophomore, Faith G. Faith is being recognized for being bold, a dedicated student, and for challenging others to be the best version of themselves. Faith is an awesome role model for our younger students as well as her peers. Thank you, Faith, for being great!

Congratulations to all students of the week! Anyone that has been selected as a student of the week is also eligible for our Student of the Year honor. Keep up the greatness Longhorns!

Celebrations

Last week was filled with treats and fun for our staff at Rock River. We celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week, however, we call it Staff Appreciation Week. All staff members at Rock River play an integral part in the lives of all of our students. We know that without each and every team member, our school would not function as smoothly as it does. Thank you to everyone that is a part of Longhorn Nation for making this an amazing school for our students and families

We would also like to honor Ms. Bennett. Ms. Bennett was our Laramie Area Teacher of the Month in April! Some of you may have heard about this on our local radio stations where they read a description of her dedication and greatness over the air. I’d like to thank KIMX, KRQU, & KHAT for honoring local teachers each month. Congratulations Ms. Bennett! You are a Rock Star!

From the Nurse’s Office

Attention 5th Grade Parents: Your child will be off to the Middle School next year and with that comes a couple of things you need to be aware of regarding their health.

SPORTS: If your child will be participating in any sports activities at the Middle School for the 2021- 2022 school year, they are required to have a sports physical. This exam must take place after June 4 in order for it to be valid at the Middle School for the 2021-2022 school year. The sports physical form is at the Middle School office or can be downloaded/printed from the Middle School website. Summer is a good time to have this done.

IMMUNIZATIONS: When your child enters 7th grade the law requires that they have an updated Tetanus booster (Tdap) if they have not had one within the last 5 years. Most kids have not had this done since their Kindergarten immunizations. Once a child turns 11 years old, they may receive this booster shot. Please check with your healthcare provider about when the best time to administer this booster for your child! Along with any other important immunizations that may be needed at this time. Once your child has had any immunizations, be sure to supply the Middle School nurse with the updated immunization record.

TIME TO PICK-UP MEDICATIONS: If your child has medication at the nurse’s office, please remember that you will need to arrange a time to pick it up by June 4. For safety reasons the medication must be picked up by a parent. If a parent/guardian or another adult cannot pick up the medication, please contact the nurse at 307-721-4436 or mbingle@acsd1.org and I will make other arrangements. Any medication left in the office after June 4 must be disposed of.

Chromebook Collection

We will be collecting Chromebooks for the summer in most classrooms the week of Memorial Day. Please plan on having your Chromebook, charger, and any other accessories that you might have at school that week.

Indian Paintbrush Elementary

It looks like our weather patterns are up and down for the next little while, our Lost and Found has started to grow with the number of warm days followed by snow.  If you are missing something, please have your child come looking, we most likely have it hanging and look for its owner.
