Substitute Teacher Application Instructions


Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute in Albany County School District.  Listed below are the steps needed to complete the process to become a Certified Substitute in the State of Wyoming and to work in our schools.

  1. Create an account on the ACSD#1 Applicant Portal, complete the application, and apply for the substitute teacher position HERE
  1. Pick up a hiring packet from Central Office, located at 1948 Grand Avenue. The packet includes four (4) fingerprint cards. Two (2) for PTSB and two (2) for ACSD#1.
    1. Fingerprints are taken at the University of Wyoming Police Department. Fingerprint hours are Tuesday and Wednesdays between 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  1. Apply for a substitute permit at WY Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) HERE
    1. Include the payment authorization with your application for PTSB fees.
  1. Mail the PTSB fingerprint cards (2) to the PTSB office in Cheyenne.
  1. Return to Central Office to complete hiring process.
    1. Return hiring packet with all paperwork filled out, but NOT signed or dated, and the ACSD#1 fingerprint cards (2).
  1. Email your negative COVID-19 test result 2 days prior to your start date humanresources@acsd1.org. You can order a free COVID-19 test from Wyoming Department of Health HERE or contact your health care provider.  It can take up to 72 hours to get the results of your test.
