LARAMIE, Wyo. (December 15, 2020) – The Albany County School District (ACSD) is reminding parents that the application for free or reduced meals is available any time during the school year.

ACSD is providing meals to any student who needs them this school year due to a federal reimbursement plan. This program ends on June 30, 2021.

It is important to apply for free or reduced meals in advance. Students who have not reapplied will be charged for meals at the beginning of next school year. Applications also affect the federal funding ACSD receives next year through Title I.

If you receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP) benefits, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or other federal assistance programs, you will automatically qualify for free or reduced meals. Additionally, if you are eligible for Unemployment Benefits or WIC, you may also be eligible for free or reduced meals.

Here are instructions on applying for free or reduced meals on PowerSchool:

  1. Go to the PowerSchool for Parents
  2. If you know your account info, log in. If you don’t, click on “Forgot Username or Password” and follow the prompts. If you need to create an account, click on “Create Account.” You will need to contact your school’s secretary to get your initial account credentials.
  3. Click “Online Registration,” and you will see a link for the Free/Reduced Lunch application. (visual instructions available here)
  4. Complete the form, and type your name for an electronic signature.
  5. Your application will be reviewed by Food Services and you will receive a notification letter in the mail regarding whether or not you have qualified.
