Complete Equity Audit

LARAMIE, Wyo. (April 2, 2021) – Albany County School District #1 (ACSD#1) received the results of the equity audit performed by the Western Educational Equity Assistance Center (WEEAC) at Metropolitan State University of Denver. The audit outlined strengths and opportunities for growth within the district.

The audit included virtual visits at Laramie High School, Laramie Middle School, Indian Paintbrush Elementary, and Linford Elementary. In total, eight individuals and 38 focus groups were interviewed by WEEAC. Overall, administrators, school office staff, custodians, counselors, teachers, paraeducators, students in grades 5-12, parents and guardians, and community members were interviewed.

WEEAC concluded that strengths throughout the district include desire for professional development on equity and identity, educator collaboration, care and empathy for students, and physical safety in buildings.

WEEAC found opportunities for growth in the district include culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy, a stronger commitment to culturally responsive family and community engagement, diversifying staff and equitable hiring, educating staff and students about Title IX, and district focuses on educational equity.
