LJHS Summer News

* The first day of school for 2014-2015 is August 25, 2014 and it is a half day.

* The main office at Laramie Junior High School is open during the summer, Monday-Friday from 8:00-2:30. We are available for new student registration and building tours.

* For athletic information for 7th and 8th grade, including start dates, student requirements and schedules, please check out our main athletic page. 9th graders play sports through Laramie High School.

* The first PTO meeting of the 2014-2015 will be August 15, 2014 at 5:30 pm in the commons area. We invite all parents to join PTO and become involved in our school. We will post membership information and t-shirt order forms on our PTO page in August.

2013-2014 Yearbooks are still available

We have quite a few extra yearbooks leftover from the 2013-2014 school year. If you would like to purchase one or would like to get another one, please stop by the main office between 8:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday-Friday. They cost $39 and we will accept cash or checks.

Summer Band and Orchestra Programs at LJHS

This year’s summer band and orchestra programs will begin June 9 and run Monday-Thursday for four weeks. There are three sessions each day.

8:30-9:30 am
BAND: This is for students with 1 year experience playing a band instrument. They will need Essential Elements 2000, books 1 & 2.
ORCHESTRA: This is for students with 1 year of orchestra experience.

9:30-10:30 am
BAND: This is for beginning students or students who would like to learn a new instrument. They will need Essential Elements 2000, book 1.
ORCHESTRA: This is for students with 3+ years of orchestra experience.

10:30-11:30 am
BAND: This is for students with 2+ years experience playing a band instrument. They will need Essential Elements 2000, book 2 and Standard of Excellence, book 3.
ORCHESTRA: This is for students with 2 years of orchestra experience.

Books, instruments, cases, and accessories are available downtown at D&L Music. LJHS has a limited number of books and instruments that are free to use, however students are responsible for any damage inflicted upon the instrument while it’s in their care.

Laramie Junior High School Dress Code for 2014-2015

 

In order to maintain a safe and effective learning environment for all LJHS students, we will be enforcing the following dress code:
1. Hats will not be allowed to be worn anywhere in the building.
2. Shirts should not advertise alcohol, tobacco, or drugs.
3. No see-through, cleavage baring, bare midriff, halter tops, or spaghetti strapped shirts will be allowed to be worn on campus. Straps must be two finger widths wide.
4. Shirts with obscene or questionable language will not be allowed to be worn at school.
5. Students will not be allowed to wear pajama bottoms, tops or bedroom slippers to school.
6. Shorts, skirts and dresses are to be NO more than 6 inches above the top of the knee. All student in violation of this will be required to call home for a change of clothes.
7. Pants should be worn at the waist; no sagging will be tolerated.
8. Sunglasses will not be allowed to be worn in the building.

Wyoming State law requires students to wear shoes at all times. Clothing is deemed “appropriate” when it does not offend or distract other students or faculty members. Clothing must be worn in the manner for which it is designed; students whose clothing is judged to be inappropriate will be asked to call home for a change of clothes. Excessive incidents will result in consequences. All students are expected to meet the above dress and appearance regulations.

For any school sponsored activity, students will be expected to follow the above dress code.

Students participating in inter-school activities and/or school sponsored or public appearances may be required to meet more stringent dress and appearance regulations. Certain instructors may require safety clothing.

Appropriateness of dress and appearance shall be determined by the building principals.
